Community walkabouts
Tell us what you think of your area and what we can improve by joining us on our estate walkabouts with your local Housing Officer.
We want all our residents to live within neighbourhoods that are safe, clean and attractive and we’d like you to work with us to make sure yours is well maintained.
This is an opportunity to show us something on your street or block that may need improving.
We look for abandoned vehicles, fly tipping, graffiti, and check the general condition of communal areas and the land around where you live. We then report any issues and work with our colleagues in other departments to monitor them.
The walkabout may be postponed if there is bad weather. Please contact your Housing Officer first to check. You can find your housing team here.
Events and projects
We work with partners and community groups to provide local projects, activities and initiatives. We want our communities to be places where people enjoy living and help our residents to achieve their goals.
We can work with you to organise a fun day, a trip or a longer project.
If you are interested in an event or project, contact the Communities Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.
Resident groups
There’s lots of resident groups across the city which bring neighbours together to celebrate and socialise whilst also discussing and resolving local issues. We can help you establish these groups and provide support with grants, advice and guidance where needed.
If you are interested in joining or creating a resident-led group, contact the Communities Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.
Make a Difference days
One off days that bring local residents, staff and other organisations together to clean up neighbourhoods and talk about local issues.
Funding can be provided to support this.
If you are interested in Make a Difference days, contact the Communities Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.
Clubs
We run a range of hobby and learning groups where residents can learn new skills and make new friends. There are weekly Maths, English, crafts, computer skills, photography and gadget clubs held at our head office, Plumer House.
If you are interested in a club, contact the Learn for Free Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.

Resident review
Design and carry-out in depth reviews focused on a particular service delivery area to help us to learn what we’re doing well and what can be improved.
Join our Board
As a Board Member you will be involved in key decisions that will affect PCH and our residents across the city.
Join the Customer Focus Committee
The Customer Focus Committee (CFC) supports the PCH Board by making sure PCH provides excellent services to all of its residents and supporting communities. This includes looking at our policies and procedures.
The CFC includes three resident co-optee member roles to ensure residents are involved in decision making.
Become a Virtual Resident Advisor
Join our team of Virtual Resident Advisors (VRA) who meet regularly and help us to come up with ideas and content for our resident newsletters
The VRA will also be asked to review certain documents and external communications that go out to our customers. Our newsletters include:
- Our quarterly InTouch magazine which goes to all PCH residents, leaseholders, shared owners and commercial tenants
- Our monthly resident e-newsletter that is emailed out to all our registered subscribers
- My Home - our sheltered housing newsletter
Things like damp and mould and where to find help and support during the cost-of-living crisis are important for us to communicate to our residents. But we want to delve in to the things you would like to see in our publications.
What would benefit everyone? A page with a handy ‘how to fix’ every-day things in your home? A puzzle page? A spotlight on what the Police are doing across the city? We want to discuss these ideas with you.
We are looking for residents who:
- Are interested in improving and promoting the services PCH delivers to residents and communities
- Have the ability to work effectively as a team and with other panel members
- Are committed to helping PCH provide excellent customer service and involve residents
- Want to make a positive difference to our communities
- Have commitment to our core values – Care, Respect, Listen & Do the right thing
You won’t have to commit much time at all – around 2 hours a month either virtually or in person.
If you are interested in becoming a Virtual Resident Advisor, contact the Communications and Marketing Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.
We're happy to give residents an induction including an introduction to PCH to help you look at the organisation and understand how we work so that you understand PCH a little better and understand the challenges and pressures we face as we look to deliver great services to our residents.

Spends and saves
Residents help us to decide which contractors we use. We provide training so you can help us with shortlisting, interviewing companies and site visits.
If you would like to help us decide which contractors we use, contact the Communities Team on 0808 230 6500 or email us.
We recognise the importance of residents being involved in decisions that affect their homes and lives. We want to encourage involvement and out-of-pocket expenses can deter residents from becoming involved. We will reimburse genuine out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result of involvement.
Read our Residents Expenses Policy which sets out when we will reimburse expenses, and what is needed in order to claim.
Complete the Residents Expenses Claim form in order to make a claim for expenses and send it to the Communities Team.
