Upgrades benefitting residents being carried out at popular housing with support scheme

We’re carrying out a series of upgrades to one of our most popular housing with support schemes on the Barbican.
Brock House is a prominent building in one of Plymouth’s most historic areas and accommodates 34 residents, over the age of 55, offering a supportive and comfortable environment that enables residents to live independently in their own homes.
We’ve recently completed planned maintenance to the building including general repairs and maintenance and are now replacing the roof coverings and external tiling, as part of our major works investment programme, providing residents with a safe and warm place to live.
Scaffolding has been erected around the building while we carry out the removal of the roof coverings, with the £1.75M project expected to be completed by March 2026.
We’re working closely with contractors Bell Group to ensure there is minimal disruption for residents as well as local businesses and neighbours.
We spoke to residents Dave and Margaret who have lived in Brock House for a number of years, they said: “The work that PCH is doing is for the best and will make Brock House a better place to live, there is a little bit of noise which can’t be helped as there are people working on the scaffolding outside, but each of the contractors and other operatives we’ve met have been really nice, friendly, polite and cheerful.”
Laura Haynes, Head of Asset Strategy and Delivery said: “We’re working closely with our residents to deliver safe, warm and watertight homes with minimal disruption during these building works.
