With more and more people converting to electric cars, there are lots of things to consider. One of the most important things you might need to think about is how you will charge your car.
It’s always worth checking with us before buying an electric car as we may not be able to grant permission for a charger outside your home.
PCH will only give permission to install EV chargers if your home has off road parking – permission will be given in writing once an Electrical Supervisor has carried out an inspection.
Many of our homes are not suitable to have EV chargers installed and residents should be mindful before purchasing an electric vehicle.
Some things to consider when purchasing an electric vehicle:
- Does your home have off-road parking where a charging lead won’t cause a trip hazard?
- PCH do not install EV chargers, and you will need to arrange this yourself and provide us with a copy of the electrical certificate once its been installed.
- After any EV charging installation, an electrical supervisor from PCH will need to carry out an inspection to ensure it is safe.
There are also numerous public charging stations throughout the city and surrounding areas where electric vehicles can be charged.
