Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) has teamed up with both St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth and Children’s Hospice South West for the next 12 months to raise funds to help the charities to provide specialist care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

Following a vigorous selection process, staff selected St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth and Children’s Hospice South West as their Charity of the Year for 2025-2026 following a company wide employee vote and final vote on the shortlist by our Executive Management Team. All funds raised throughout the year will be distributed evenly to both charities to support babies, children, young people and adults across the South West.

St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is an independent charity providing specialist care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses in Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall.

They care for over 300 patients and their families at any given time. They care for people with serious illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis and chronic lung disease, treating any adult over the age of 18.

This specialist care is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists to patients and their families at home and or at their specialist unit at Turnchapel.

For more than 30 years Children's Hospice South West has been caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions by providing hospice stays, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care. The care offered at each of their three hospices is not just about medical and nursing support for babies, children and young people but enriching the lives of them and their whole family.

They are the only children's hospice in the South West, and they provide care from their hospices in Devon, North Somerset and Cornwall.

More than 60 Plymouth families from the PL1-PL9 post codes are currently supported by Children’s Hospice South West at Little Harbour and Little Bridge House. The charity has a dedicated team supporting siblings and offers families the option of being supported in their homes if they prefer. Children’s Hospice South West provides a vital service to our local community, making the most of short and precious lives.

Wayne Marshall, New Partnerships Lead at St Luke’s Hospice and Annabel Roberts, Area Fundraiser at Children's Hospice South West visited Plumer House to meet Jonathan Cowie, Chief Executive at PCH and both charities were presented with a £500 cheque as an initial donation to kick-start the fundraising support.

Jonathan Cowie said: “It is a pleasure to be able to support both St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth and Children’s Hospice South West this year, and make a difference to two extremely vital charities carrying out important work across the city and the wider South West.

“As votes were so close for both charities this year during our annual selection process, it felt right to select to support both charities, and we are excited to embark on yet another exciting fundraising journey as we move into April.

“Our staff are hugely passionate about supporting local charities and I’m confident they’ll do all they can to raise money for our new chosen charities in the year ahead.”

Wayne Marshall said: “We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen by the staff at Plymouth Community Homes as one of their nominated charities. As a local charity, we deeply value people and community, principles we know are also shared by PCH.

“Their support will make a significant difference to our nursing team, both in the hospice and in people’s homes and we’re excited about this partnership. We look forward to collaborating with PCH staff to make a lasting, positive impact, and we thank them for their support.”

Annabel Roberts said: “We are thrilled to be supported by Plymouth Community Homes in 2025-2026 and look forward to working with staff to do some amazing fundraising and have lots of fun along the way!

“This partnership will help us to continue our work supporting families facing unimaginable challenges and it’s thanks to businesses like PCH that we can continue to provide care for babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families, at our Little Harbour hospice.”

Throughout the year, PCH will be raising money for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth and Children’s Hospice South West through a variety of events, sharing updates about the fundraising efforts of staff on our website and on FacebookInstagramX and LinkedIn.

During 2024 and 2025, PCH raised over £7,000 for Luna’s Fund, a local charity providing practical and emotional support to bereaved parents in Devon & Cornwall.

In previous years, PCH has supported several charities including Motor Neurone Disease Association, Gables Dogs and Cats Home, Woodside Animal Sanctuary, Devon and Cornwall Food Action, Age UK, Jerimiah’s Journey and many more.
