Staff at Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) held a charity quiz night at Manadon Sports and Community Hub this weekend to raise funds for our Charity of the Year, Luna’s Fund.

We are delighted to announce that a total of £694.40 was raised for Luna’s Fund, to help them to offer practical and emotional support to bereaved parents in Devon & Cornwall following the loss of their baby.

An abundance of tickets for the quiz and the raffle were sold to staff, contractors and their friends and families to help raise extra funds for the charity.

PCH teamed up with Luna’s Fund in April 2024 for 12 months of charity fundraising, and so far, we have organised a number of fundraising events including a football match to raise funds for the charity.

There were seven teams filling the function room at Manadon Sports and Community Hub, and the quizzers enjoyed a pasty and refreshment break halfway through the quiz.

The winning team were presented with a trophy and certificates, and the team who came in last place were given a wooden spoon to mark their efforts.

Rebecca Hocking, Communications Officer at Plymouth Community Homes and Charity Steering Group member, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in organising and attending the quiz, raising important funds for a charity supporting so many individuals and their families in our city and beyond.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to support our charity of the year, and to allow staff, contractors, families and friends to gather for an evening of quizzing and laughter.

"Thank you to my fellow team members, Jack, Mary and Alex for supporting with the quiz.”

Aimee Green, CEO at Luna’s Fund, added: “Thank you to everyone who attended the very well organised quiz on Friday evening!

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of PCH, and we are ecstatic to share that £694.40 was raised which will be used towards a relaxing getaway for a couple or family in need of our support in the coming weeks.

“Thank you to the wonderful team at PCH for your efforts and organisation. We really couldn’t do the work we do without you, so thank you.”

We also held a raffle, with prizes donated by staff, friends, family and contractors. We would like to thank everyone who contributed and purchased raffle tickets for their generosity.

With special thanks to:

  • The PCH Charity Steering Group for their support throughout the quiz
  • Manadon Sports and Community Hub for their hospitality and for waiving the venue fee
  • Staff, contractors and businesses who supported the raffle

PCH is continuing to raise money for Luna’s Fund through a variety of events, sharing updates about the fundraising efforts of staff on our website and through social media platforms on FacebookInstagramTwitter and LinkedIn. An update with a total of the funds raised during the year will be shared in the coming months.
