Plymouth Community Homes hosted and supported a whole month of festive cheer for residents and the local community. 

Efford Christmas Event – Wednesday 4th December 

High View School was busy with festive cheer this year as it hosted its annual Christmas event. The event, organised by High View School and the Efford Community Network, saw local businesses, organisations and community partners come together offering stalls, activities, food, and a special guest by the name of Mr Claus. 

Plymouth Community Homes returned with our popular Free Toy Giveaway Stall for another year of smiles and early Christmas gifts for local children and families.

The toys, sourced from the remarkable Reuse Centre, filled the stall with a delightful range of gifts, ensuring something for everyone this Christmas.

Ryan Huws, Communities Worker at Plymouth Community Homes said – “It’s a pleasure to attend the Efford Christmas Event and PCH gave a great contribution towards the festivities. It was a joy to see the children’s cheery faces as they received the free toys”.

Beacon Lantern Making – Tuesday 10 December 

Lantern making at The Beacon marked the first day of PCH hosted Christmas events last week, with residents coming together and getting creative to produce eye catching gingerbread men and women, in preparation for the Lantern Parade taking place this evening at 5pm at North Prospect.

The event was led by Karen Evans, from the Conscious Sisters, who produce events that collaborate social engagement with artwork.

Karen Evans, from Conscious Sisters said  “It’s a lovely community event that brings everyone together at a time which could be a hard time of the year for some people.”

Devon Live Cafe Winter Wonderland – Tuesday 10 December

Last week PCH supported the Devon Live Café to transform into a thriving Winter Wonderland, providing children - many of them living in PCH homes with a giant igloo experience and chocolate selection boxes donated through social value by one of our contractors.

Beacon Wreaths and Toy Giveaway – Wednesday 11 December

Last week continued the festivities with a busy festive wreath making session at The Beacon, filled with cheerful residents and a fantastic toy giveaway organised by the Communities Team which was hosted in the café area.

Woodland Court Christmas Celebrations – Monday 16 December 

Residents of Woodland Court enjoyed a fantastic Christmas celebration on Monday, thanks to a joint effort from the Tall Buildings team and the Rangers. The event, held in a small space, made a big presence with music, disco lights, and a festive buffet. Ranger James Rowe proudly took on DJ duties, with a selection of Christmas hits.

The Christmas event was a positive step in strengthening engagement with Woodland Court residents. With a new communication approach, the festive event resulted in conversations with around 30 households, a significant improvement on previous years.

Beacon Christmas Event – Monday 16 December 

On Monday, Santa returned to The Beacon for a busy shift, with local residents queuing out of the door for an evening of arts & crafts, festivities and a selfie with Mr Claus.

Camels Head Christmas Party & Chrisjingle - Monday 16 December 

The Camels Head Residents’ Group held a Christmas get-together, organised by Treasurer Gaynor Southerton. The event included a ticket raffle and a sing-along of traditional carols and popular Christmas songs for the residents.

Belmont Court Chrisjingle - Monday 16 December 

Marlborough Christmas Tea and Toast – Tuesday 17 December

Residents and staff from Marlborough met in the community room for a morning coffee and festive catchup.

Morley Court Christmas Tea and Toast – Tuesday 17 December  

Morley Court was filled with laughter and festive jumpers on Tuesday, with residents meeting for a merry catch up over some festive nibbles and toys and chocolate for the children.
